A few stoneware flagons of this Rum survived in the Navy warehouses. Black Tot founder \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eSukhinder Singh\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e tacked down a few of these flagons from collectors, sampled the contents, and had them scientifically analyzed. He modeled their flagship Black To Rum after the \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eoriginal navy dram\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e that conquered the world.\u003cbr\u003e\r\n\u003cbr\u003e\r\n\u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eBlack Tot Finest Caribbean Rum \u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003eis built on the 300-year legacy of those old Navy flagons. It is a blend of Caribbean Rums from Barbados, Jamaica, and Guyana — all selected to build a complex character. The experiemented with \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e26 different combinations\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e before arriving at the following: 40% Guyanan pot and column stilled aged three to five years, 20% Guyana pot and column still that’s un-aged, 35% pot and column stilled aged five years, and 5% Jamaican pot stilled aged three years. But in 1655 that was changed to a half pint of Rum — the daily tot. Often a squeeze of lime of lemon was added to ward off scurvy.
