Symbol of Knowledge Brooch

This design is inspired by an architectural detail on the second floor, west side, of the Great Hall. The border encircles a laurel wreath. The open book and torches of learning are a recurring motif in the elaborately decorated Thomas Jefferson Building and symbolize the importance of learning in a knowledge-based democracy. Gold-tone on brass. Approx. 2"diameter.
